National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) LGBTQ+ Resources

An online directory for those seeking therapy from queer and trans therapists of color.


The Neighborhood: A Virtual Hub for LGBTQ+ Families

Provides spaces for LGBTQ+ families to connect with others, find support, and build community.


The Network/La Red's Hotline

A hotline specifically for LGBTQ+ individuals experiencing domestic abuse.


Postpartum Support International: Queer and Trans Parent Support Group

A free support group open to all members of the queer and trans community who are expecting, adopting, and/or parenting babies up to 2 years. This group is intended for gestational, non-gestational, and adoptive parents.


Rainbow Families Trans Parents Group

Offers education, resources, and support services for LGBTQ+ parents, families, and parents-to-be.


Trans Lifeline

Provides trans peer support for the trans community. They are run by and for trans people.


Trevor Project

Offers counseling, resources, and support groups for LGBTQ+ young people.



Policy Advocacy

American Psychological Association: Information and resources regarding LGBT health disparities and advocacy from the Office on Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity

Provides information about the ongoing policy advocacy work in LGBT health disparities, both in government agencies and the nonprofit healthcare sector.


National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE)

Advocates to change policies and society to increase understanding and acceptance of transgender people. In the nation’s capital and throughout the country, NCTE works to replace disrespect, discrimination, and violence with empathy, opportunity, and justice.

Advances equity for the full and expanding spectrum of LGBTQ+ families and children through support, education, and advocacy.


Whitman-Walker Institute: Research, Policy, and Education

Conducts research, leads policy and advocacy initiatives, and provides education and training to healthcare professionals with the goal of helping the LGBTQ+ community receive the highest quality of care and to create a society that empowers everyone to live healthy, love openly, and achieve equality and inclusion.



Financial Assistance

Point of Pride: Financial Aid for Trans Health Care

Provides financial aid and direct support to trans people in need of health and wellness care.


Trans Health Legal Fund

Provides resources for trans people facing investigation, arrest, or prosecution for seeking health care.

Provides guidance on gender-inclusive language to promote gender equality and lessen gender bias.


The Body Pro: For the HIV / AIDS Workforce

Informs and supports the HIV workforce that includes those working on  the front lines of HIV education, prevention, care, and services.


The Fenway Institute: National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center 

Provides educational programs, resources, and consultation to health care organizations with the goal of optimizing quality, cost-effective health care for LGBTQIA+ people.


GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ+ Equality

Provides LGBTQ+ health resources that cater to both healthcare providers and patients.


National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) LGBTQ+ Resources

Provides a collection of LGBTQ+ organizations for individuals and providers covering resources, research, clinics, services, and policy advocacy.


Provincial Council for Maternal and Child Health (PCMCH)

Provides evidence-based and strategic leadership for perinatal, newborn, child and youth healthcare services in Ontario. While some trainings and resources mentioned are Ontario-specific, several may be more broadly applicable. 


University of California, San Francisco: Guidelines for the Primary and Gender-Affirming Care of Transgender and Gender Nonbinary People

Provides guidance for healthcare providers to deliver gender-affirming care to transgender and gender nonbinary people.



Professional Organizations

Association of LGBTQ+ Psychiatrists

A community of psychiatrists that educates about and advocates for LGBTQ+ mental health.


Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities (SAIGE): A Division of the American Counseling Association

Delivers educational and support resources for LGBTQ+ individuals, as well as promotes competency on LGBTQ+ issues for counseling professionals.


World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH)

An interdisciplinary professional and educational organization devoted to transgender health whose members engage in clinical and academic research to develop evidence-based medicine and strive to promote a high quality of care for transsexual, transgender, and gender-nonconforming individuals internationally.
