Get Involved at MMHLA!
Participate in Advocacy Day
MMHLA hosts a National Advocacy Day every year, usually in March (this event is virtual). Advocacy Day brings together advocates from across the country to meet with Members of Congress and their staff.
Advocates provide education about maternal mental health conditions and request that Members of Congress allocate federal funds to programs that address maternal mental health.
We give you everything you need to be a successful advocate.

Become a Grant Reviewer
The Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) has provided over $16 billion in federal funding for priority research areas over the last 30 years. MMHLA successfully advocated for maternal mental health to be included as a priority research area in 2023, and now the CDMRP seeks peer reviewers for grant proposals.
A hallmark of the CDMRP is the involvement of consumer / advocate reviewers who act as lay experts and focus on the expected impact of the research and what is most important for quality of life. In addition, this is an excellent opportunity to learn about potential research funding opportunities.
Reviewers do NOT have to be affiliated with the military.
