Perinatal Mental Health Prevention Programs
Three evidence-based protocols, two of which have been endorsed by the United States Preventive Services Task Force, have proved effective in preventing PMH conditions by teaching parents how to reduce stress, improve communication, and build social support.
These programs focus primarily on parents with limited resources or support systems and are typically available via community mental health centers, federally qualified health centers, or home visiting programs.
